Hi All,
Along with the flock of 8 RB Grosbeaks at the feeders this morning was a male
Indigo Bunting.
Also this morning I walked around my trail and saw a first of the season
Yellow-breasted Chat out in the field. It has been my experience that these
birds normally are rather shy, except when the males are singing. I hear them
more often than I see them. This bird flew from some distance to land about 10
feet from me on a branch. It looked me over then started working a grape vine
for insects. It finally moved off into a thicket. I ran into it a couple more
times and each time for the most part it ignored me.
I walked down into the woods and heard American Redstarts, Ovenbirds, Hooded
Warblers, Black-throated Green Warblers, a Black-and-white, a Wood Thrush, my
first of the season Red-eyed Vireo and my first of the season Cerulean Warbler.
