Met up w. David Ledwith at "back door" (Kings Hwy and Telegraph Rd) of Huntley
Meadows park (Fairfax) around 5:30p. We took the hike/bike path to the
"original" Woodcock meadow, listening to a Barred Owl along the way and
arriving just as the sun went down.
We were not disappointed as the Woodcocks put on a Most Excellent show tonite.
First peent came around 6:10p. First display flight about 6:20. We settled on
10 birds as there were many peenting and more than one in the air at once. Had
one land about 30 feet away for a decent look in the semi dark.
Great night to be out and about.
