Desperately seeking Woodcocks? Don't be fooled by the tall grass in the first
"meadow" to the left of the hike bike trail as you walk toward Lake Huntley,
they're there. With a quarter moon, mild temps and no wind tonite, the
Timberdoodles put on a great display. Peenting started about 7:20 and flights
began shortly thereafter. May have been as many as 12 birds and some flew
right over our heads while taking off. One bird landed in shorter grass between
the path and one of the "scruffy pines" and we were able to get a light on it
and view it well in bins... still peenting when we left ~ 7:45. One small
(little brown?) bat entertained us before the peenting started.
