VA Birders,
The 2 White Pelicans were in full view at Belle Haven, Fairfax Co., this
morning, at least from 8:30 am, when our Northern VA Bird Club walk started
there. We met in the north parking lot at Belle Haven Picnic Area, on the
G.W. Parkway, and saw the pelicans sitting in the water up toward Hunting
Towers and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. As we walked up the bike trail
(north), toward the Stone Bridge over Hunting Creek, we got closer to them
with each opening in the vegetation. They must have been there for at least
2 hours--after which we were on the Hunting Creek side and I lost track of
them. I would also add that it was low tide when we started.
