Hello Birders,
I saw 2 VESPER SPARROWs at Malvern Hill (VA Birding Trail Site CPL03:
Richmond National Battlefield Park) today at around 1:15 p.m. They were in
the field just beyond the cannons adjacent to the main parking lot.
Other highlights in the area WILSON'S SNIPE (64 at Crewes Run/Pond,
yesterday 3-26), YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER 4-6 singing birds, a RING-NECKED
PHEASANT calling from a thicket near the junction of Carters Mill Road and
Willis Church Road. This bird has been present in the same spot since at
least Sunday.
LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSHES have arrived in Henrico and Charles City counties,
as have BLUE-GRAY GNATCATHERs. On Sunday (3-25) I observed PECTORAL
SANDPIPER, DUNLIN, and LEAST SANDPIPER (singles) in Charles City county, as
well as LESSER and GREATER YELLOWLEGS.
