The crow landing on the duck was not a mistake. When I was at huntley
meadows this mocking/attaching/etc occured over and over by many different
individual crows. I guess they could have mistakenly landed on the ducks,
however, what I observed was much more aggressive. There was pecking, and
other aggressive gestures.

Amazing pictures, Cliff!
I'm wondering if, when the mallard dove into the
water, the crow thought it was a rock and was
just landing on it--it kind of looks like that in
the photo. In that case, the crow was probably
as surprised as the duck! What kind of camera
were you using?
