Howdy all,
Today was a little better in the overall total banded than the past few days.
We ended up banding 224 today with yellow-rumps making a nice showing again.
Sparrow numbers are on the rise with the majority of them Songs. We have caught
130+ Song Sparrows so far this season. A good start!
Not much else of excitement however, but a nice mix of birds (19 species).
Totals for the day:
Yellow-rumped            151
Black-thr. Blue              1
Palm warbler                5             2 yellows/ 3 westerns
Pine warbler                  1
Golden-crowned Kinglet  7
Ruby-crowned Kinglet     2
Brown Creeper               3
A. Goldfinch                  6
E. Phoebe                     1
House Wren                  1
Slate-colored Junco       1
Chipping Sparrow           4
Field Sparrow                4
Swamp Sparrow            4
Song Sparrow              19
White-thr. Sparrow        6
Carolina Wren              1
Hermit Thrush               7
TOTAL --------------------   224

The weather was nice today. The sun finally came out and the winds were
actually light today for the first time in what seems like ever. Sure hope
tomorrow is a repeat!

Cheers,
Jethro
