Hello VA-Birders
I love these birdy soap operas! A male House Wren has been hanging around
our neighborhod for a few months, hopping from yard to yard, singing his heart
out all day long. I swear he is louder than any bird we have, even the Carolina
Wrens. My neighbor had hung a birdhouse on their front porch and the little
guy stuffed it full of twigs about two weeks ago. He then hovered about,
singing and singing to no avail, but waking the neighbors pretty early! Still
no
female at the nest box, so I was heartened to hear that Sarah's male finally
attracted a mate.
Aren't house wrens migrants and their nesting therefore unusual for this
region? Or is their territory spreading southward?
Enjoy the birds (and the movie).
