Hello all...HB435 is in Committee and it looks like the vote will be close.
The hearing on the bill is scheduled for next Thursday, Feb.2. The bill looks
good for passage if we can get it to the floor of the House. The fisherman are
hitting hard now, we need to hit back. Here's what we need right now.
Calls to the following delegates - if you have already written or emailed,
please call to reinforce your support of this bill. These delegates need to
hear
from as many constituents as possible by FEB 1. If you are really inspired,
get two friends to call as well. Start a phone tree...I will be away from my
computer for a few days, so if you need more info.- please copy David Buckley -
his email is copied on this post.

On a personal note, I'd like to thank everyone who has responded to me
personally. I am not interested in "spamming" the listserv w. these posts but I
realize everyone out there may not feel the way I do about this - this issue
is
near and dear to me. In the mold of our old friend - Laura Catterton - I have
always been one to "rescue" the horseshoe crabs stuck in the rocks at Port
Mahon or on their back, vulnerable to the gulls. I think the signage at Port
Mahon says one Female crab can lay 1,000,000 eggs in her lifetime - I think
they
all should have a chance to reach that potential...Thanks for all your
help...!!! Rich Rieger
