VA Birders,
I showed up at Dyke Marsh this morning for the regular 8 AM Sunday morning
walk. I was joined by six others on a day with fabulous weather and a few
interesting birds. We managed a total of 47 species which includes the birds
I
saw earlier at Hunting Creek. The most birdy spot turned out to be the trees
by the road at entrance to the marina. There we had both of our warblers,
several orioles and a Great-crested Flycatcher. It was a good chance to study
the Baltimore and Orchard Orioles and figure out the age, sex and species of
the various birds we saw. Another highlight was watching a wasp kill a
cicada on the ground right at our feet. The two wrestled around for a while,
but
the cicada was clearly doomed. I have a few pictures at
