The Williamsburg Bird Club went to Craney Island this morning, led by Dan
Cristol. The UPLAND SANDPIPER was still in the grassy fields on the north side
along the road. A MARBLED GODWIT flew over us as we were trying to relocate
the Upland. The AVOCETS were still in the northeast corner impoundment and a
HUDSONIAN GODWIT was in the middle impoundment along the east side. There was
one LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the west side by the water with a group of
greater black-backs and herring gulls and pelicans. We saw 3 WILSON'S
PHALEROPES in two different locations in the impoundments. We had good,
close-up looks at a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER in the SW impoundment. The roads
were not too bad today but there was a lot of work going on.
