Total observation time: 5.75 hours
Official Counter: Wm (Bill) Gallagher
Observers: Allen Larner
Visitors:
Allen Larner was official counter from 1:15 - 3 p.m. EST.
Weather:
Wind: WNW, 29-38km/h diminishing by afternoon and changing to out of SSE;
Temp: 24c increasing to 32.5c
Humidity: 75% decreasing to 49%
BarPressure: 1023>1022
Cloud Cover: Mostly sunny; overcast by afternoon
Haze persists!
Observations:
First, we are seeing what we perceive to be early movement of Broad-wing
and Red-tail. We are already over 50 BW for the month of August that may
set the monthly record. Red-tails have been observed in small groups
(4-5) with usually one taking off heading south.
Two Bald Eagle day observed by Allen Larner:
Juvenile -1:15p.m. EST
adult-2:31 p.m. EST
First falcon for the season came across with the juvenile Bald Eagle. Too
quick for 100% ID but quite possibly a Merlin that would have set the
early record.
Chimney Swift
Swallows (Tree and Barn)
Hummingbird - 2
Silver Spotted Skipper
Clouded Sulphur
Cabbage White
Predictions:
Rain AGAIN with approach of cold front.
