Hello Everyone,
This morning to my amazement, a COMMON RAVEN flew over the Riverbend Park
meadow just after sunrise. It was flying in a northwesterly direction. I
first noticed its large size, long, wedge-shaped tail, and large head and bill.
I second-guessed myself at first since it is an uncommon to rare occurrence at
the park despite having American Crows in the sky at the same time for
comparison. It then vocalized and I realized that it was, in fact, a Raven.
Pretty amazing. This is not to be confused with the resident crow that has an
odd call, sounding a lot like a Raven which a few of us joke about.
Other highlights include a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER among 5 other woodpecker
species (no Red-headed), both KINGLETS, a PALM WARBLER, and an inordinate
number of EASTERN TOWHEES. The list is below:
