Strong southwesterly winds yesterday made for an intense day in the field on
the Wachapreague CBC. Harry Armistead, Jared Sparks, Michael Male, and I
covered Cedar Island, Accomack County, and related flats between 0700 and
1600, with noteworthy numerous birds being hundreds of Brant, Dunlin, Snow
Geese, Surf Scoters, Red-breasted Mergansers. Species in smaller numbers
included

White-winged Scoter 1 m.
Long-tailed Duck 1 f.
American Bittern 3
Tricolored Heron 1
Red Knot 4
Least Sandpiper 1
Marbled Godwit 12
Lesser Black-backed Gull 1 ad.

Merlin 2-3
Peregrine 1
Tree Swallow 1 ad.
Boat-tailed Grackle 4
Eastern Meadowlark 4
Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow 1
Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow 1
