Virginia Birders!
Fred Blystone and I spent Friday morning birding Jamestown Island - mostly
the short and long loop roads plus the boardwalk over the swamp near the
temporary Visitor Center and the under-construction new Visitor Center. The
park opens at 8:30 and we were the first in line. Almost impossible to bird
there any earlier because you risk arrest by the National Park Service. We
left about 12:30.
Highlight was probably the Black-and-white Warbler. We found 38 species but
were amazed at the "missing" species - Red-winged Blackbird, Eastern
Bluebird, Brown Thrasher, Tufted Titmouse, and other resident birds.
Admittedly we were late in the day for birding and the temps were in the
