VA-birders,
This is an active year for Ruby-throated hummingbirds in McLean. A very
slow early season, followed by frantic buzzing, chasing and feeding in late
June and throughout July.
I am attempting to train the hummers to defend my hosta from hungry deer.
Not too much progress yet.

I live in Alexandria right up the hill from Huntley Meadows park, and have
had at least 12-15 or maybe more RT hummers since mid June. The activity
between 4pm and 8 pm is astounding; they seem to be everywhere.

I live in Fairfax County and counted 13 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds atthe
same time in my yard while changing my feeders this afternoon. This is a
record for me. Anyone else getting these numbers?
