The communications link withthe Intrepid-class ship was closed.  The image of the same ship was now on the viewer. Lukas looked at it thoughtfully.

"Think they'll ever give us one of them?" asked Commander Tarion Dak, breaking Lukas out of his reverie.

"They'll never trust Lukas with a new ship," Commander Lance Bass, the ship's chief engineer said, jokingly.

"They already have," Dak pointed out.  "Maybe if we ever get ship porduction up and running again.  Right now it is just patch and repair what we have."

"We may now have that chance," Lukas said somewhat quietly.

"Captain, they're going to warp," called out the helmsman.

"Stay with them," Lukas ordered.  The Constitution-class vessel went to warp.

"They should be opening the conduit right about..... now," Bass said.  When no slipstream conduit appeared,  "Now?"  Still no conduit.

"Captain," called out the communications officer.  "The other Eagle reports sensor readings from a possible Elder base.  They are redirecting to investigate and are inviting us along.  I have the coordinates."

"Send them to helm and science," Lukas ordered.  He waited a moment, looking over to Lt. Tracy, who now was concentrating on the console.  "What have you got, Lt.?"

"Concentrating scans there now, Captain," she reported.  "I am reading low power emanations.  Low enough that we would have ignored them under any other circumstance."

"Interesting," Dak commented.

"The other Eagle is transmitting towards the thrid planet in this system, sir," Tracy reported.  She was surprised when a welcoming message came up on her screen.  "We have just been welcomed to this base. I have beam down coordinates."

Lukas raised an eyebrow. "Hmm!"  He looked to Dak.  "Prep an away team.  Ah imagination the other Eagle will be as well."

"Aye, sir," Dak replied.  "Lance, Lt. Tracy, you're with me."
