:ON:
Gwen sat in the command seat on the Trojan Horse. They may only
have five minutes until they are in range, but those five minutes were
going to take forever. Gwen thought about how they were going to
transport over to the Chekov once they were in range. If the TH were
to slow down as they neared the cloaked ship, it would probably spook
Gladiam, and they may lose their only shot. However, if they don't
slow down, the would have to transport at warp. That was extremely
risky business.
There was the Eagle around. Maybe that was the answer. What
legitimate excuse could they use to talk to the Eagle? Gwen had
already indicated that she didn't have much use for Starfleet
Information. However, that didn't mean that she wouldn't take up an
opportunity. Still, it would be better if the Eagle would make the
first move. Gwen just had to figure out a way to let Commodore Fyrstk
know what she wanted. While the Theonians might not listen in on Orion
channels, there still was a chance that one of them might, at some
point, listen. The more often Gwen communicated with the Eagle on that
channel, the more likely it was that the communication would be
discovered. But, that seemed to be the only way to let them know.
There was also another matter to think about. Gwen wanted to beam
over to the Chekov with the team. However, she was the CO of the TH
and her place was on this ship. Then again, of all the crew from the
Eagle, she was by far the best qualified to be going. This was her
area of expertise. Being in command wasn't all it was cracked up to
be. It takes a lot of the fun out of things.
There was also the matter of who to keep on the TH to keep the
stupid bucket of bolts operating. Tru was an obvious candidate to
stay. He wouldn't want to go over anyways. Though, he'd probably want
to fly that craft more then he would the TH.
What about Josie? She was a science officer. She could probably
be of use in keeping the computers in line. However, Max would be over
there before anyone else. He could easily do that job. But then, Gwen
would have to trust him to actually listen to her, and she wasn't so
sure she was ready to trust that thing yet. She would have to think on
that a little more. It might be wise to take her with.
Then there was Jeff. They could definitely use him to make sure
that the Theonians didn't sabotage the ship (or hurt it accidentally).
But was he really needed on the first wave assault? He was probably
needed more on the TH then on the Chekov right away. The TH was still
falling apart. But, maybe she should take one engineer. Gwen decided
she would take Jeff, but the other engineers should probably stay on
the Chekov to start off with.
Rommie. So many thoughts passed through her mind when she thought
of him. Gwen had enjoyed teasing him a little about Saimiam. But she
had other things to think about right now, besides that. She really
didn't have any thoughts of leaving him on the TH. He would be much
more useful on the Chekov.
The rest of the crew of the TH would be beaming over. There was
no question about the security personnel. They had been brought on
this mission specifically for the task of the assault. Soren, and the
others would be beaming over.
The number of Theonians on the Chekov probably numbered in the 40s
at least. That gave them, at best 2 to 1 odds. That was enough for
Gwen to make her decision on her second question. She would transport
over to the Chekov. It made the most tactical sense. She would leave
Tru in charge of the TH.
Gwen just had one more thing to take care of first.
