It's too bad that you feel that you need to remove the braille tile
sets, because we've also been using this beta in integration witn the
student's sighted peers. They look forward to being able to play games with
our students and we can use it as a teaching opportunity for sighted peers.
It gives sighted students a basic understanding of what braille is. And,
since braille in a regular Ed. setting is mostly taught in isolation, the
braille tile sets could be used to promote less alienation for our students
in an integrated setting.
Our teaching a partially sighted student braille has nothing to do with
playing this game. Rather than removing the braille tilesets altogether,
just use different sets with partially sighted braille readers if it's truly
a concern for you. I know that all of the partially sighted braille readers
that I work with, prefer not to use the braille tilesets based on contrast
and lighting alone. They (braille tilesets) are too bright to keep staring
at, when compared to the universe tilesets for example.

Hi Sue,

The Christmas set was made from bits of Corel Christmas graphics. We had
the rights to them, but the resolution was so poor, they looked terrible.
It would have required a great deal of work to bring them up to the specs
needed by people with low vision. That is why they were eliminated.

I might as well tell you that the braille tiles are being eliminated too
because it is not considered a good practice to teach people with low vision
to learn to read braille visually. It is a habit, that once learned, is
hard to break.

Perhaps we can come out with a Christmas set as an add-on later, or better
yet, the game is equipped with the software to make your own.

Thanks,

Elaine

I happen to enjoy the Christmas set. So since it wasn't in the latest
version, I didn't update yet. Why was it removed?

Larry and fellas,

I downloaded the new version of Toodle Tiles, but the Christmas and
Braille tiles are still there. I'm wondering if this is occuring with
other players too and if so, what do we need to do to eliminate them?

Elaine
