Merrill, I've noticed ncsc-moths has been quiet lately. tn-moths has been quite active. I subscribe to both and have been learning from both. Maybe others would like to do the same. So this is an invitation. I'm copying it to tn-moths so that it can go both ways. From: jmerrilllynch@xxxxxxxxx To: ncsc-moths@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Haven't seen any posts recently from anyone in the group--hope that means that everyone is just busy on summer projects (or maybe it means everyone is depressed about the Deepwater Disaster). Things have been pretty slow the last couple of weeks at Echo Valley. Did have a fresh #8858 Hawthorn Catacala (Catacala craetaegi) this morning on the porch. Also a couple of Io moths and a Polyphemus in the past several days. Also several individuals of #6303 Barred Macaria (Speraza subcessaria). Caterpillars feed on Ribes (gooseberries) and this species is considered rare in NC and is tracked by the NC Natural Heritage Program. Also, a single # 9065 Green leuconycta (Leuconycta diphteroides). Solace in moths, J.
