Those are midges, they look a lot like mosquitoes but they don't bite. Many 
years ago I was teaching an insect class to some elementary kids at our outdoor 
education area. We caught midges and skipper "butterflies" and I told the kids 
what they were. One mother quipped, "Do you have Barbies too?!" Having been a 
major tomboy growing up, I didn't play with dolls, so it took me a few seconds 
to figure out what she was talking about! :) 



I got a really weird little critter on my sheet last night, I'll post a photo 
when I get it off my camera.
