it doesn't appear to have the underside male appendage. but maybe photo angle. seems to be more plumper like female. but i know less these days. marlene 6/6

It could be a young male but it's just as likely that it's an adult female. From what I've seen, it's only the upper part of the eyes that are brownish on a female and the abdomen pattern looks right for a female or a juvenile male. Other than on tenerals, I've never seen a Dasher with completely brown eyes.

Subject: [tn-dragonflies] Blue Dasher

The attached photo is, I believe, a young male Blue Dasher. It has several intermediate marks: The eyes are turning from brown to green, the thorax
pattern and coloring look more like an adult, but the abdomen patters is
that of a juvenile.  I would appreciate any comments.
