Since I discovered this shot, I've seen several Cloudeds with the checkered fringe. The sun came out for a few minutes this afternoon and I saw 2 just like this one. All I've seen with this checkered fringe were frosty fresh looking individuals. Cloudeds are very common here and I'm able to ID most from a distance. I'm betting these checkered ones have always been here but I wasn't looking closely enough to notice it.
