I found this shot of a Silvery Checkerspot chrysalis just before emergence. Looks very similar. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2818162550036770570QdRjiN Bart JonesMemphis, Shelby County Date: Mon, 4 Jun 2012 20:58:03 -0500 Subject: [TN-Butterflies] Fwd: chrysalis From: ritavenable@xxxxxxxxx To: NABA-CHAT@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; tn-butterflies@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Hello, all, The attached photos are of a chrysalis/cocoon found in Springfield, TN on June 3, 2012. It was on a peony in a family member's yard. It was bright, shiny silver and looked for the world like a Variegated Fritillary chrysalis, but the wings aren't right and it's too silvery. I don't think it is a Pearl or a Silvery because they are more brown, plus there's the webbing. Does anyone know what it is? This is not a quiz! Rita Venable, Franklin, TN
