4/26/09 America Copper (BAMONA record and a first for me) Goatweed Leafwing (BAMONA record) Common Buckeye (BAMONA record) Spicebush Swallowtail (BAMONA record) Carolina Satyr (BAMONA record) Sachem (photo) I didn't get shots of the following FOY's: Cloudless Sulphur Zebra Swallowtail Monarch I also saw a flying Luna Moth. If you've never seen one of these flying before, just picture a yellow/green swallowtail with jet engines and you'll get the idea of what it looks like. I watched it slam hard into the ground about 100 feet away but it somehow pulled a disappearing act because I couldn't find it. The sightings of the Leafwings is interesting. I know they are common but I had not seen any in this area until this spring. I've had multiple sightings every day for the past 2 weeks in lots of different places. I just saw 6 on my daily walk around the property.
