I spent about 45 minutes birding the yard and driveway this morning from 7:00-7:45 AM and was happy to find warblers in abundance. I ended up with 10 species, as follows: Tennessee - 3 Nashville - 3 Magnolia - 3 Bay-breasted - 6 (probably more; they were chasing each other around constantly) Blackburnian - 1-2 (one was right over the driveway when I walked out) Cape May - 1 (crippling looks at a singing male) Ovenbird - 2 Chestnut-sided - 5 Blackpoll - 1 Black-throated Green - 2 Other migrants: Swainson's Thrush - 6 Gray-cheeked Thrush - 1-2 (both singing and calling) Red-eyed Vireo - 4 (I can't rule out the possibility of one being a Philly but I've never been able to distinguish those songs) Summer Tanager - 2 Scarlet Tanager - 1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 3 Great-crested Flycatcher - 1 Rose-breasted Grosbeak - abundant at our feeders; we call them Grospiggies. Indigo Bunting - 1 Not a bad way to start the day.
