[TN-Bird] Woods Reservoir

A good birding day, Sunday, 27Jan08 at Woods Reservoir, Franklin Co and
fields nearby ( with Linda Foster, a birding friend, visiting here from Fla)
The interesting highlights were 500+ SANDHILL CRANES ( off Finney Rd in
winter wheat fields to the left coming off of Monroe Floyd Rd from Morris
Ferry Boat Dock), NORTHERN HARRIER 1 adult BALD EAGLE, flying over at the
dam, 1 imm. BALD EAGLE sitting on the point down from UTSI, BLACK and
TURKEY VULTURES, AMERICAN PIPITS in same area as cranes but closer to the
road, and on the lake, LESSER BLACKED GULL ( sitting on its usual buoy at
Morris Ferry Boat Dock), BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON GOLDENEYE, COMMON LOON, a
large strung out raft of HORNED GREBE, 1 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, HOODED
MERGANSER, and 1 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE and the other usual winter birds found
in that area.
