Big Sandy/Pace Point/Britton Ford areas
Henry Co.

I spent the 1st part of the morning yesterday at the Pace Point area. Not
much of interest, except the continuing pair of WESTERN GREBES. They were in
the same location I last saw them, in the Coot Bay area. This is immediately
south of Pace Point, on the TN River side. There are large numbers of Lesser
Scaup in this area, easily 5000+ birds. There were practically no Greaters
mixed in, as I only saw a couple of birds. I was surprised to not have any
Scoters at all. Red-breasted Mergs are still around in good numbers, and
most of the other expected divers were present in small numbers. Several
loons were in the area, but all looked pretty Common. Gulls were only the
expected 3 species. There was absolutely nothing around the Rocky Point
side, a total of one Common Loon.

The lake is back up as to expose no shorebird habitat anywhere I was, and I
only saw Killdeer. A quick run through Britton Ford on the way home was a
total bust; there were no birds in any of the three bays, only a large group
of divers out at the edge of vision, out from the platform, primarily Scaup.

The Westerns were the closest they've been yet, at one time in the 150-200
yard range. I was shooting into the Sun, but got some better shots than I've
managed before at them. For anyone not tired of them, I placed 3 new shots
in the same gallery as the last ones, with the 1st image being here :
