Tri-Cities Regional Airport Hamilton Road (Wetland Area) May 11, 2004 Part of an expansion plan for Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TCRA) included construction of a wetland to assist in treating stormwater run-off from one section of TCRA property. This wetland is located approximately one-third of a mile from Highway 75 after turning onto Hamilton Road along the northwest portion of TCRA. Wildlife diversity in this wetland area has been increasing over the past 4 - 5 years since initial construction. While the wetland is on TCRA property with numerous NO TRESPASSING signs, nice views are available from Hamilton Road and it offers a nice stop between other birding locations along the Boone Lake and Boone Dam corridor. A partial listing of birds of interest this morning included: Northern Waterthrush Blue Grosbeak (immature male) Swamp Sparrow Savannah Sparrow Brown Thrasher Eastern Kingbird Barn Swallow Dennis Whittington Johnson City, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net is owned by the Tennessee Ornithological Society Neither the society(TOS) nor its moderator(s) endorse the views or opinions expressed by the members of this discussion group.
