There were 5 Surf Scoters, four males and one female, at Lake Tansi
(Cumberland County) this morning, March 29, 2016.

Notable have been the absence of Red-headed Woodpeckers there since the end
of August--typically the beach area at Lake Tansi has one of the best places
to find them. In fact they have become rare in the county this fall and
winter (none on the Crossville Christmas count compared to the usual 10
-30). Blue Jays have also become hard to find, at least in the southern and
western part of Cumberland County. I haven't seen any here since the
Christmas count.
