Bells Bend

Made a brief foray this Tuesday morning to Bells Bend Park and the
sod farm to check for shorebirds. Unfortunately, I did not even find
a Killdeer today, but on the way to work, I detoured slightly onto
Cleeces Ferry Road. Along a fence line a sparrow popped up and sat
briefly. I expected another FIELD SPARROW, many of which I'd seen
and heard this morning, but instead it turned out to be a VESPER
SPARROW. After it flew down to the ground, I got out of my car
and searched the fence line and pasture area, briefly spotting a
second one before both flew away to perch in a distant tree.
