Allan Trently and I were participating in the winter bald eagle count
today on Norris Reservoir. Our route consists of a 15-mile (one way)
portion of the Clinch River. We found no eagles this year but spent a
great deal of time examining a surf scoter near Island ''F" in Union
County. We also observed the usual Bonaparte's and ring-billed gulls,
mallard, bufflehead, red-shouldered hawk, American kestrel, and two
coyote's. It was extremely cold but we still had a good time.
