(5/4/11) BOTH the Purple Gallinule and the Common Moorhen were seen and photographed this morning between 9:30 and 10:15 at Standifer Gap Marsh (Chattanooga). The Common Moorhen was where it has been seen often lately - close to the bank along the North side of the gravel road (best viewed from near the Wood Duck box). The Purple Gallinule was in the cattails between the Wood Duck box and the gravel road.
