Had a nice flight of Common Nighthawks (200) over Lookout Mountain last night about 8:00PM EST after the thunderstorm moved out. I believe that the last of July and all of August are underrated when it comes to months to observe migrating neotropical migrants. Obviously, some of the birds listed have been post-breeding wanderers, a couple are resident breeders, as well as early migraters. Here is a list of SOME of the neotropical migrants I have observed on my Migration Monitoring (for the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory) route at the Cravens House since July 15, 2002: Yellow-breasted Chat Northern Parula Warbler Balck and White Warbler Black-throated Green Warbler Blue-winged warbler Cerulean Warbler Hooded Warbler Prairie Warbler Worm-eating Warbler Yellow-throated Warbler Blue-headed Vireo Yellow-throated Vireo Red-eyed Vireo White-eyed Vireo Tree Swallow Gray Catbird Baltimore Oriole Kevin Calhoon Chattanooga, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
