[TN-Bird] Sightings Report 19 Sept,2006 Shelby Farms & Collierville Nature Center

Weather was clear and in the 70's no humidity, long sleeves for the shade
(mosquito's to).
 

Location:     Shelby Farms Shooting Rng and East

Observation date:     9/19/06, 1045-1115am, .5 mile

Notes:      Walked down the North side levee to the next pond down. LBJ's
starting to flicker about more. Least Sandpipers and the two Killdeer flew
in from the east.

Location:     Shelby Farms Patriot Lake

Observation date:     9/19/06, 1115-1135am

Notes:      Sat in the parking lot and scanned the lake and lake shore.

Location:     Shelby Farms Picnic Shelter 4/Beaver Lake

Observation date:     9/19/06, 1135-1200pm

Notes:      Short walk to the marshy area and along the shore the trees in
the marsh area had more birds that were out of sight on the far side.

Location:     Shelby Farms Pine Lake Day use area

Observation date:     9/19/06, 1210-1240pm

Notes:      Sat at a picnic table and scanned the lake and lakeshore. Geese
and the the two Egrets were the headliners of this stop.

Location:     Peterson Lake Nature Center

Observation date:     9/19/06,4:45-6:15pm, 2 Miles

Notes:      Sharon and I walked the boardwalk and the cleared path to the
new boardwalk to the river and backtracked back to the other open trail
leading to the wastewater treatment plant outfall road. Excellent Hike.
Finally met up with the Barred Owl that has been calling in the area.
Excellent habitat tobe opened up for viewing in a couple of months.
