[TN-Bird] Nine pairs of Ivory-billed Woodpeckers ??

TN-Birders:

Bob Braid of Knoxville found the following on Mary Scott's website last night
http://www.birdingamerica.com/Ivorybill/ivorybilledwoodpecker.htm

This is very curious and at least something we might all need to continue
monitoring.

Let's go birding.......

"I'm back after a summer of travel, so let's talk about the rumours!

"A major university has been documenting a population of as many as 9 pairs
of ivorybills on a river system that was never explored by James Tanner, and
which did not make Bob Russell's Top Ten! The river flows to the Gulf of
Mexico. It has provided a perfect "under the radar" home for ivorybills. It is
expected that there will be an announcement about this exhilarating find at the
AOU meeting next month. As there is land acquisition in progress, there has
been a real effort to keep this location quiet, and I will respect this
decision by the discoverers for now. (This project has been ongoing for more
than a year.) But WOW! As I've said for all these years ~ let's just get out
there and look, and we'll find the birds! More to come. . ."
