At about 7:30 AM today, I saw two loggerhead shrikes in a tree beside the K-Mart entrance nearest to the underpass of I-40 on Old Hickory Blvd, in the Charlotte Park area of West Nashville. This is only a few blocks from the old Cleece's Ferry Landing for those who know the area. This is the nearest in to the residential area that I have seen this species, so I think they may have been migrating or otherwise on the move. I have been used to seeing them occasionally over on Bell's Bend and out Centennial Blvd. near John Tune Airport and around the open areas near the prisons. The two birds I saw this morning were "making overtures" to each other and generally playing "chase" among the branches of the small tree they were inhabiting for the moment.
