June 29, 2008 Ensley Bottoms Robco Lake Shelby Co, TN There were 9 Lesser Yellowlegs today, up from 2 yesterday and only 3 Least, down from 9 yesterday. Cooper's Hawk still making strafing runs and over 15 Black-necked Stilts ganged up on a Great Blue Heron and escorted him out of the area. Saw more Turkey and Black Vultures over the pits than I have ever seen in over 20 years of watching down there?? Robco Lake use to hold a small group of Ruddy Ducks through the summer every year. They have not been around for a few years but there is one female down there this year. I finally located the Western Kingbird nest off Chelsea in north Memphis this afternoon. That makes 10 active nests with at least 2 more possibilities. The hybrid female is still setting eggs........ **************Gas prices getting you down?
