Got a bit of a surprise this morning (Mon, 30 June 2008) with
jaw-dropping looks at a Worm-eating Warbler that made a brief
visit to the yard (west Knox Co, TN). It's at the tail end of
the nesting season for them so this could easily be post-breeding
dispersal but I suspect it may have nested in the woods along
our ridge. I had a singing Worm-eating on 21 and 23 May this
year and those dates are well inside the range of dates given
for nesting in the TN Breeding Bird Atlas. Unfortunately I
wasn't able to find any further signs until today.
