This afternoon we made a brief check of the shorebird habitat in Dyer County in
preparation for weekend birding.
At Highway 103 and Great River Road we had the female Greater Scaup and male
Northern Pintail that have been there for a week or so.

Also we had:
Semipalmated Plovers 22
Semipalmated Sandpipers 14
Dunlin 4
Black-bellied Plover 4

At White Lake we had 2 Hudsonian Godwits in breeding plummage, a Ruddy
Turnstone and at least 8 Black-necked Stilts (probably more like 12) with one
on nest.

We also had:
Black-bellied Plovers 4
One female American Wigeon
Double-crested Cormorants 4
Stilt Sandpiper 1
Semipalmated Sandpipers 175
Semipalmated Plovers 4
White-rumped Sandpipers 2

This should be a good shorebird weekend.

Earlier this week we had 11 Hooded Mergansers and a mother Wood Duck with 6
young at Black Bayou. At Goose Pond we had a mother Mallard with 5 young.
