Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Davidson Co.
Nashville TN
Observation date: 1/17/11
Notes: Lake still partially ice covered.
Number of species: 33

Wanting to get out of the house on my day off Monday, I went to
Radnor Lake, where I have not visited for a couple months. The
road still had plenty of snow and ice on it, but I made it around
the lake without falling.

Best birds of the morning were 4 female PURPLE FINCHes at Long Bridge.
There were 10 species of ducks on the still very much frozen lake,
certainly a nice variety. Best of the bunch were four male CANVASBACKs
and major numbers of WOOD DUCKs, a bit of a surprise for this deep into
winter.
