This is my last Cornell Lab. Backyard bird count, and I was surprised to be
visited by at leat 20 Purple Finch this morning. That is the number I could be
sure were counted only once, but there appear to be more as they flit about.
This is the most I have ever seen and can only imagine they are flocking up
prior to moving on. The turkeys now appear only in ones and twos, and a few
are developing spurs as well as pronounced wattles. I am hoping our giant Tom
appears at the same time as the young fellows so we can see the interaction.
