On Wednesday evening, Aug. 14, 8 p.m. at the Cranberry Thistle in Jonesborough, I'll be putting on a short program about a trip this October to the Amazon, sailing from Manaus, Brazil aboard the Motor Yacht Tucano. There are still 10 spots available on the Tucano for this trip. There will be a 15 minute video about the trip, and if you are not sated with tropical birds, I can pop in another video about Costa Rican birds to get you salivating about next spring's trip to that country. Whether they eat at home or another restaurant, old Jonesborough hands make their way the the Cranberry Thistle for dessert. Early each evening the pastry chef arrives and fills the case with fresh, home made cakes, pies and other things that a diabetic like myself doesn't even dare look at. The summertime special is frozen lemonade. The 'Thistle is located directly across from the Washington County Courthouse in downtown Jonesborough. See ya there.
