I finally had an opportunity to search the sandbars along the Mississippi
River for Piping Plovers during their tiny migration window. Judy Newsome,
Bonnie Johnson and I arrived at Island 13, Lake Co. around 7:30 and found an
worn adult plumaged Piping Plover around 8:15. A state bird for all of us.

We found the immature Tricolored Heron at Black Bayou around 12:00 a couple
of hundred yards past the pump stationsitting at the top of a small cypress
tree. It is only the second I have seen in Tennessee.
