Tn-birders, Just a gentle reminder that the annual spring North American Migration Count (NAMC) is approaching. As always, it it conducted on the second Saturday in May, which is May 12 this year. This count is held in conjunction with International Migratory Bird Day. The count area for this count is any county. There are approximately 20 counts run every year. They are a fun way to help track our migrating and breeding birds. The results are compiled and published in our Tennessee Ornithological Society journal, THE MIGRANT. Most of the larger cities have counts for the county in which they are located. If you don't want to participate in any of these, consider going to a county that typically does not receive much coverage. If your county does not have a compiler, you are welcome to send your data to me by email or regular snail mail. If you are the only one in your county censusing the birds, please try to make a dedicated effort of at least 4-6 hours if you want the data published in our journal. I will keep records of all data I receive. All censusing efforts are greatly appreciated. Be safe and have fun! Thanks, Ron Hoff TOS state bird count compiler 282 Hackworth Ln.
