TN-Birders:

What is at danger here is the reputation of TN-Birds and Nashville
birders. This network normally seeks a more serious and
respectable reputation within the online birding community than
we have just witnessed in the Red-eyed Vireos endangered/extinct
posting.

Chris Sloan and Jay Desgrosellier will not be permitted to post to
this net until they can successfully demonstrate to James Brooks,
Troy Ettell and Candy Swan that they both know what a Red-eyed
Vireo looks like and can recognize the song.

Chris may satisfy the first requirement by simply pointing to the correct
plate that the vireos are found on in a modern field guide. Jay may
complete the requirement by having an experienced birder write
down on paper what the bird "says" when it calls. If he can correctly
read that statement back to the three members of the committee,
then the pair will be allowed to continue birding and posting.

If these requirements are not achieved by Dec. 31, 2002, the sinners
will be brought before the board of directors of TOS to personally
surrender their "internationally known and respected professional
ornithologists" titles to Ken Dubke. Dubke will then give the board
a brief talk about such failings and about cranes :-)
