Radnor Lake State Natural Area
Nashville-Davidson Co. TN
Wednesday 04 May 2011
.
Today was one of those days where you don't even want to leave the Parking
Lot. The 28 birders who joined the NTOS-sponsored Wednesday Walk at Radnor
Lake had a hard time being convinced it got much better than what was just
outside the Visitor Center. A PHILADELPHIA VIREO, GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER,
BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER,and CAPE MAY WARBLER were just a few of the Parking Lot
finds. The group also got a long look at a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO at the
Spillway just after a BALTIMORE ORIOLE had appeared.. AMERICAN REDSTARTS
were well-represented this morning. An unusual find for Radnor was a PURPLE
FINCH at the Long Bridge. A BROAD-WINGED HAWK flew overhead, a first this
year for most of us.
We tallied 70 species including 20 warbler species. Thanks to all who
participated today.
