Here is more information about the Wildlife Celebration mentioned by Don Holt
who is the field trip leader for the dragonflies. Come early for informal
birding.
Everyone is invited to the Wildlife Celebration this Saturday, May 22,
sponsored by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and The Tennessee Wildlife
Heritage Trust at Farmhouse Gallery and Gardens in Unicoi. This free event will
celebrate the diversity of East Tennessee's wildlife and offer participants
wildlife viewing opportunities with area experts.
Hear about programs for the conservation of Tennessee's nongame species from
Richard Kirk of TWRA and participate in the field trips scheduled throughout
the day.
Learn about Tennessee's first Watchable Wildlife Stamp featuring artwork by
local artist Johnny Lynch of Unicoi. The first stamp shows Johnny's colorful
painting of a Carolina Wren. A different stamp will be sold each year, with
the proceeds to benefit nongame wildlife in Tennessee.
The Tennessee Wildlife Heritage Trust, which supports the efforts of the
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency's nongame programs, will offer bluebird
boxes
and other wildlife related items which will be available for minimum donations
along with free literature about Tennessee's wildlife. There will also be a
silent auction. Lunch is available at the Farmhouse Gallery.
