For those that don't follow the Carolina birding Listserv, I'm
forwarding two emails from that group on a SCOTT'S ORIOLE in
Conover, NC (near Hickory). This is about 130 miles from the
TN border on I-40 (right at 200 miles from Knoxville). The
second email below has a link to photos of the bird. See the
first email for details on visiting to look for the bird.

ROAD TRIP!

There is a probable male Scott's Oriole coming to a feeder in Conover,
NC in Catawba County. If accepted by the NC RBC, I think this will be
a new record for NC. It is coming to the house of Becky Duggan, owner
of the Wildbirds Unlimited in Hickory. Becky has cheerfully agreed to
allow visitors to view the Oriole. This is a small community, PLEASE
BE RESPECTFUL OF NEIGHBORS! Don't block driveways or walk through
yards. The feeder can be seen from the road. Her address is 4095
Principal Cir NW Conover, NC 28613. A note of caution: if you get a
map online and it tells you to take exit 131 off of I-40 you have to
use exit 132. Exit 131 is now closed. If you need more info, please
call me at 828-312-1064.
