Jan.26-27, 2008
Ensley / Robco Lake
Shelby Co. TN
Tunica-DeSoto Co, MS

At TVA Lake in Ensley, both Black Scoters were photographed. Evidently they
are not speaking again as they were using different ponds. There is a very
reclusive adult Krider's hanging out off Riverport Road and has been seen
over
the past few weeks. The Bald Eagles appear to have finally settled on a nest
site.

At Robco, the lake is covered with waterfowl, 16 species but you have to
sort through thousands of scaup to glean out the odd ducks. There were 12 White

Pelicans cruising the lake along with the expected DC Cormorants and 3 species
 of gulls.

There was a single Cackling Goose in a flock of Greater W-f Geese along
highway 51 and a dozen have been seen and photographed in the area between
Counce
and Arkabutla Dam Roads. Lots of geese in the area. Gull numbers are
building again and Herring Gulls are still in low numbers with a few Bonies in
the
Ring-bills. I'm still getting tagged and color marked Ring-billed Gulls in the
hordes. A single immature Lesser Black-backed Gull has been in the area for
over a month.

Three immature Rough-legged Hawks, over 100 Sandhill Cranes, 20 plus
Short-eared Owls, 30 Vesper Sparrows, 2 LeConte's, 6 Western Meadowlarks, and
lots
of raptors were seen this weekend in the "Magic Triangle" in Tunica Co.
Good Birding !!!
